Possible Duplicate:
What should I do when I see spam posts?

This is regarding a spammer who continued spam the site by posting the link to a blog. I have attached a screenshot as posting a link wont help as I'm sure it will be eventually deleted by a mod.

I have obviously flagged it as spam, but I have a feeling that if any DA user could edits / suggest editing the post (as soon as s/he notices it) to remove the link to the external sites this would discourage the spammer from posting in the future. I think this would minimize the life of the spam link on the site.

The itself is obvious a spam post, most likely created by a bot. What I usually do, is that is some one creates a spam post like that, I simply delete it, is a user posts several spam posts and have little/none reputation, I would simply delete the user.

In addition, editing the spam post to remove the spamminess makes it harder for the mods to regognize as spam. – mpdonadio Jan 14 '13 at 11:47
  • I am also in favor of deletion of the spam. I raised this question because I found that the deletion process takes time, and in the mean time the link remains active and can cause harm to users who might click it accidentally. – AjitS Jan 17 '13 at 10:26
  • @MPD I wasn referring to to removal the link (keeping the text same) to make the spam post harmless; so that a normal user may not click it. And I don't think that it would remove the spamminess of the post. – AjitS Jan 17 '13 at 10:30
  • @indrock Generally speaking, it's the link that makes the post spam. The priority is for deleting the post, which is what automatically happens when enough users flag the post as spam. (I remember it takes 6 users.) Otherwise, a moderator deletes the post, or the user. – kiamlaluno Jan 19 '13 at 10:12
